What it's about

Phoebe Stone arrives at a grand old inn in Newport, Rhode Island, with no luggage, planning for it to be the last night of her life. But the whole inn has been booked for a week of wedding events, and Lila, the bride, is furious that a stranger is staying there. Somehow, Phoebe gets pulled into the wedding, and Lila and the wedding people pull her back toward life.

Why it's worth reading

It won the Goodreads Choice Award for fiction and spent about a year on the New York Times lists. It's funny and warm about something very dark, and readers love its odd friendship.
